Grandma & Grandpa Petersen surprised the kids on the evening of December 24 with the news that we would all be flying to Florida on January 2 to spend a few days at Disney World. The kids were ecstatic, of course, and counted down the days. The wait at the airport on the morning of the 2nd was quite exciting for the kids as they watched all the airplanes. I think all the people watching them got a good laugh at their enthusiasm. In fact, after our first flight to Cleveland I called my parents (already in Florida) and said I didn't think we even needed to go to Disney World because they had SO much fun on the airplane. The best part was when we flew through the clouds - They just loved that!
Karisa & Hannah were especially thrilled to have seats all to themselves on the first flight (since it was a small plane).
Megan is all smiles by her window seat.
Our first day at the Magic Kingdom was cold & rainy all day. Thankfully it never really downpoured, so the weather didn't stop us too much. Here are the kids (with cousin, Kaylee) to the side of Cinderella's castle shortly after we arrived that first morning.
It was really neat to see the Magic Kingdom still decorated from Christmas.
Grandma was the only adult that could tolerate the tea cups, so she got to experience lots of laughs with the girls.
We met several characters that first day, including Daisy & Minnie Mouse.
Dumbo was a fun ride for everyone. . . including Craig & me. :)
And, of course, we couldn't end the day without a ride on "It's a Small World."
The castle was absolutely gorgeous in the evening decorated with LOTS of Christmas lights.
